Cambridge Walking Tour - Following in the footsteps of Franklin, Crick, Watson and Sir Isaac Newton

Wednesday's trip to Cambridge was the perfect combination of the intellectual and the frivolous - shopping! Pupils learned about the university city which has nurtured great minds throughout the centuries, including Rosalind Franklin, James Watson and Francis Crick, the pioneers of DNA discovery.  Our tour guide was enthusiastic Cambridge undergraduate, Eve, who lead our group through the city's spectacular colleges, past the punts on the Cam, and on to the tree grafted from the original Isaac Newton sat under when contemplating a falling apple - and the theory of gravity was born.

Later it was time to hit the shops and the thriving market to buy bubble tea, sushi, sweets, clothes and mementos to from their trip to this world famous city.

Waiting for a rare visit into the Queens College quad
